Sandbed Cottage is a delightful mix of old and new, with exposed beams, stone work and flagged floor. The downstairs living place is open plan with a log burner, Wi-Fi, digital TV, DVD and a fully equipped kitchen. The upstairs is reached by a handmade oak staircase onto a gallery sitting area from which there are 2 good sized bedrooms, one with a king size bed and 100% Egyptian cotton bedding and one with 2 single beds. There is also a spacious shower room with WC, basin and large quadrant shower cubicle. It is located in a lovely rural location within Cumbria at the foot of Harter Fell, near the unspoilt village of Ravenstonedale, with two pubs serving food, a playground for children and St Oswalds church with Gilbertine ruins. Conveniently located, Sandbed Cottage provides a comfortable base from which to explore the many attractions of both the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District and is perfect for those who enjoy walking.

This delightful cottage has been carefully designed to retain many of its original features including flagged floors and oak beams. These have been perfectly mixed with handpicked pieces of furniture to provide all the charm and character of a traditional cottage with modern conveniences. Ideal for couples or families, there are a wealth of wonderful walks for guests to enjoy from the cottage front door. Dogs are welcome and two stables are available for livery by arrangement with the owner.

Just a short walk from the cottage is the lime stone pavement of Fellend clouds and the ancient Murthwaite woods, where you may see red squirrels, deer or buzzards soaring overhead. The fells surrounding Sandbed Cottage are grazed by Swaledale sheep and wild fell ponies with open access across the fells for walkers.

There is plenty to see and do in the surrounding area including golf with several courses to choose from, fishing on the river Lune or Eden and horse riding. The ancient Book Town of Sedbergh is six miles away and provides not only superb walking amongst the spectacular Howgills but also craft and book shops to browse, eating establishments and a weekly market.

The small ancient market town of Kirkby Stephen is just seven miles from Sandbed Cottage. At the head of the Eden Valley, the town sits on Alfred Wainwrights famous coast to coast walk and the Cumbria Cycle Way which is excellent for cyclists. Kirkby Stephen railway station is a mile and a half outside of town and is on the famous Carlisle Settle Railway - what better way to take in the spectacular scenery than by a journey on a steam train! A little further afield are the fells and mountains of the Lake District and the stunning landscape of the Yorkshire Dales both offering plenty of attractions and opportunities for outdoor activities.
